I am curious if any of you tried to develop interface (GUI) similar to Outlook. I mean display split in 3 zones. One vertical zone on the left with controls that switch modules (like email, calendar, contacts...) and on the right top zone with list of records and on the right bottom zone with details of each record.

If yes I would appreciate if you will share how you did it. If you use MDI approach or Planes or any other approach. I personally do not like Planes so at this moment I try to work with MDI. I display MDI child, always maximized (I have one window dedicated for one module, contacts for example) on the right side and then I have a horizontal splitter in that window.

Regards
