i am wondering if there is a unique identifier available for contacts on android devices.
I want to associate a record with a valid contact from phone in order to send messages via email or sms by using the contacts details of my phone - for sure I could build a unique key by using mobile number, first and last name but this can be changed and is not really unique and the link between my app and the contact record would be broken... I know that other apps can create a link to the contacts ( like whatsApp does ) but i could not figure out how to manage this..

any hint would be appreciated.

Thanks
