Since doing that I have found that the initial link to the HFSQL server (which is on the same machine) takes just over 4 seconds during which time the program is hung. Once it has connected for the first time, all subsequent reads to any file in that database are instant. When I did this in the Express version, I never had this pause on the first read which ppears to be establishing a connection. I have tried to do the first read on a new thread, and although this stops the hanging, when that thread stops, any first reads on the main thread still have this annoying pause. Any ideas what could have changed to cause this?
