I am trying to install a REST API on a server and I am getting an error message:
The webservice has not been associated with the WebDev account "NNNNN". See below.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is with it?
Thanks!

Hi Mike,
when you deploy a web site OR a webservice, you are asked for a webdev login and password (and a ftp login and password)...
That login matches a webdev ACCOUNT that has to exist on the webdev server and is manageable via the webdev admin tool.
Now, inside that tool, you also CAN set each website/webservice to a specific account. It is done automatically the first time you deploy one, but you can change it later.
Here, the message tells you that the webservice in question is NOT associated with the webdev account you are using to deploy, or, in other words, that it is associated with ANOTHER webdev account.
So either you changed something at the account level, or you are deploying on a server where a webservice with that name already exist (it can happen when working on a shared server).. So either change the account settings or the webservice name.
Best regards

Hi Fabrice,
Thanks for the response. I am deploying the site using RDP and creating a setup.exe. When I deploy it, I am not asked for a webdev account. I did try to associate the REST API with a WebDev account I created but that didn't help.
Any thoughts?
Thanks again!

Hi
I generally use the remote/FTP setup system, so I'm not sure with the physical one you are using... In my case, the question about the webdev account is done when doing the setup, before deploying.
Please check that you didn't overlook that when creating your setup...
If you sure there is nothing there, I suppose you will have to create the association by hand in the admin tool on the server (in the accounts tool)
Best regards
