Hi all.

I installed Webdev and when i tried to do the auto-formation course (to learn a little, because i only used Windev before), i noticed that i haven't the files so i can't do the examples in the book. Anybody knows where is the proyect who is refered in the auto-formation book? I toke a look into the folders of webdev and it's empty.

Hi Diego

AFAIK (I haven't used the tutorial in a looong time), the v23 adds a new
wrinkle to the example : they are downloaded on the fly automatically
when you open them form the UI (open example, instead of open project)

Supposedly, this is to always have fresh code, eve, if you use that
example before and modified it...

Of course, if you are in a plane or any other place without internet,
you are screwed...

One of these false good idea, in my opinion...

So use the UI to select the example that you want and it SHOULD download

Best regards

First of all, thanks for the response.

But maybe i didn't explain it in good way, i'm talking about the last one in this photo:

I can see the examples, but not the proyect which is mentioned in the tutorial pdf/book in the box.

Thanks.

yes, I did understand these were the examples you were looking for... As
I said, I don't use the tutorial...

but some questions:

1. why do ask questions in english while you use the french version of
the tools

2. what version of wb23 is that? Normally, the tutorial is installed
WITH the tool, except maybe if it's a pre-release...

3. when installing it, did you uncheck some options (like the tutorial)?

Best regards

Hi again.

1) I'm spanish, the tool is french because the company works to a big french one (and in the past they decide to use this language), but my mates and me talk in spanish and english, we have a low profile in french :p We have now a very old project (started with Webdev 5 and update by another person) and we are the responsables now, but we need a little training (ok, from WinDev is easier, but we prefer to know little more before doing drastic changes).

2)

Yep, the first one was with 23 pre realease version (included in the DVD) and then updated until the last one.

3) No, i chose full installation.

Again, thanks for all :)

Just so you know, you can use the US versions and still code in french
(or code in english and use the code menu/translate code in french
function, if need be.

Good plan! :-)
May I suggest you study these:

Actually, if this screengrab is your current version, this is NOT the
last one; a,d you are STILL in preversion (and AFAIK, preversion does
NOT include the examples)... Your internal version is 30F230029d
(preversion)... The last version would be 30F230053k...

Furthermore, I see that you chose to install the 6 bits version of the
tools and that's a mistake... if you search in the help, you'll find the
list of limitations of the 64 bits version. So, except if you are
dealing with a HUUUUUUGE project (like 3000 files in the analysis, of
something on that scale, and you need the extra memory), which is VERY
rare, you should not use the 64 bits version.

%y advice is to uninstall the version currently on your machine, and
redo the install fully, up to version 53k either french or english (or
both in separate directory, which would allow you to work every day in
the US version, and do a final compile in the french one, so as to have
the system messages in french.

3) No, i chose full installation.

Yep, your problem is that you are still in preversion; without the
examples installed.

You are welcome,

Really, thank you so much for all :)

Now Webdev tutorial is working. Like you said, it was a problem because pre-version. We installed it and then all the updates but it didn't work. We reinstalled all, not from the pre-version, we used the final one in the web and then aplied all the patches and now it's working fine.

Thanks for your time and advices!!

Hi Diego,

good to know its working...

I see what happen now... Just so you know for the future: the
pre-version AND the first 'final' version are both FULL/STANDALONE
version install... Then all the updates have to be installed on top of
the first final version and CAN NOT be installed on top of the preversion...

that's the way it is, please don't ask me why...

Best regards
