Windev 8 hangs on load

Hi
I have Windev 8 US which I bought 04/2005. It came with a Windev 9 License..(Nice).
I therefore happilly thought that I could simply download the W9 pre-ship and everything would be fine. (Wrong!!)
After installing the W9 pre-ship version, I found that I needed a password or code from pc-soft in order to use it. Apparently this comes via an email which some people seem to have received.
I therefore could not do the dongle upgrade. Oh well.. I thought that I would simply uninstall the W9 pre-ship and all would be ok. Not so..
Windev 8 will now not load. It hangs like it is looking for the dongle. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem is the same. I know the dongle is ok because it works fine on my laptop.
Can anyone give me some ideas?
I guess I will end up needing to go through the registry etc and manually delete windev entries..**
Ideally I would like to get the W9 pre-ship working, failing that, Windev 8 would be just fine...
