Path changes of jpeg/bmp/icons

Hi,
I develop different projects and normal within windows you have a lot of icons
So I use a common directory for all bmp,jpeg's,icons etc.
Directory structure is
projects
____Common_icon_s
____Common_procedures
____project1
____project2
Within project1, I write ..\Common_icon_s\picture.bmp
It works but every time I do somethning on the styles or from time to time windev changes by him self to \projects\project1\picture.bmp
and the picture is also create within the project directory.
Is there a way to dissable this.
