HI All,

I have an upcoming work in WebDev (v19). However I dont have a license to install WebDev on my PC at present to have a bit of refresher / practice prior to the start of this work so i can start right away once the work comes in.

I was advised to check out the WinDev express edition as it uses the underlying Wlanguage as WebDev.

Would anyone know if the above WinDev express edition setup is a good idea? Also would anyone be able to list out the main differences between WinDev and WebDev in terms of routine development and syntax / Wlanguage usage?

Get the free Express version, great tool to refamilarize yourself.

Overall, syntax / WLanguage extremely similar. Online help will notate which commands / controls in one platform or another. WinDev has the most controls, other than Mobile specific items. I haven't run into any syntax differences.

Hi

the language is exactly the same.

Differences are :
- some functions are specific to the web environment, other specific to
the windows environmet, and so on. So not everything is available for
each platform.
- of course, application behavior is completely different for the web
development (browser side+ server side), and after that, you need to
choose between classic/intranet, awp/internet or even php mode (try to
avoid this one)

Best regards
