I know it will be a while before we see a us version but I have some questions.
What are the server requirements?
Will it handle web based database using WD hyperfiles?
Any idea on when it might start beta?

Hi Bert,
my glossy (French) WebDev brochure (42 pages - ask PC Soft to send it to you) says:
- The server has to be Apache 1 or 2, IIS or II.NET
- The server should be Windows OR Linux with a connected Windows-machine (means: Go for a Windows 2000/2003 server) However, Windows-servers are more expensive than the usual Linux variety.
- A static site (static = no DBMS connections) installs without problems.
- a dynamic site for your INTRANET. Everythings sits on the enterprise server.
- a dynamic site for the INTERNET.
* dedicated server. No problems, upload and maintainence by use of the utilities furnished with WebDev, you have command over the operating system, its parameters etc.
* a non-dedicated server. Means your site is installed together with others on the same physical server. You have only partial command of the server and its operating system. Seems to offer some tougher problems .. www.pcsoft.fr shows a list of companies offering WebDev compatible servers: have a look
Best regards,
Guenter

Hmm, I'm not convinced that 'English' is the keyword for the problem. As it seems to me you have to add dlls/activeXs, maybe a bunch of programs to the host server system (Windows). This has to be done by a person who has full admin rights to the OS. I think, you should have your own server system to accomplish that. For a start you could install a server at home if you could get at least 128kbit upload from a provider (cable, telecom) in your area. We are located in about 30km distance from Vienna in very rural area but we got 256/256 for 39.90 Euros/month. But as you can read some postings below, we are moving towards 100Mbit. We will have server housing for about 100,- Euros/month plus an installation fee.
