Hi,

Does anyone know if PCSOFT are releasing a patch for creating 64 bit apps on Apple come 1st Feb this year?

If I try changing the architecture to arm64 ie "Standard Architecture" as per Apple's notification email, I get loads of errors.

Apple's email reads as:
As we announced in October, beginning February 1, 2015 new iOS apps submitted to the App Store must include 64-bit support and be built with the iOS 8 SDK. Beginning June 1, 2015 app updates will also need to follow the same requirements. To enable 64-bit in your project, we recommend using the default Xcode build setting of “Standard architectures” to build a single binary with both 32-bit and 64-bit code.

This might prove to be a problem for anyone wishing to submit an app between now and whenever WM20 comes out !

Hi Piotr

every announcements they made on the french forum are saying the same thing : apple 64 bits = version 20

So I strongly suggest that you contact them directly and complain a lot about it, as version 20 is not available in English and wont be for several more month, if everything goes as usual

Best regards

Hi Fabrice,

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to have to talk to PCSoft as I've got a client whose beta-testing right now. They will NOT be amused when I tell them they'll have to wait until May! Surely PCSoft have an obligation to release a patch else otherwise it complete nullifies the ability to use their product as it stands, so how can they continue to sell their WM19 version?

Thanks

can you ask PCsoft also, if android 64 bits = version20

Hi ccc2,

Yes, I will do. I am mildly curious as to why no-one else has noticed about the Apple 64 Bit stuff, as how will they be able to use WM19 to build any apps for the App Store before WM20 comes out?

I was wondering if anyone knew where PCSoft put their patches (I used to have the site name but have lost it), so I could see if there was anything there?

This is my biggest gripe with WB and WM - you are very reliant (neh, at the mercy of) frameworks, releases and versions of products from other external providers, not to mention PCS keeping the products in-line with patches etc... give me WD anytime! <img src="/NG2013_WEB/ui/smiley/6.gif" align=absmiddle border=0 alt=";)">

Hello All

Tech support advise that English V19 will not get the patch.

Hi Al,

That's great, eh? So if I went out now and bought WM19 now thinking I could build an Apple app for distribution via the App Store, I'd basically be wasting my time and money?

Looking at Google for other App creators, they all have released patches for their existing products in the last couple of months. With PCSoft its a case of 'tough luck', spend out some more money if you want a working product.

I'm done with PCSoft, from now on will start looking at using one of their many competitors.

Hi everybody

The current solution I adopted with my [non french speaking] customers is to maintain the code in 19 US, then switch it to 20 french for testing+publication (with me clearly doing the main part of that)....

Looks like it's going to be a painful few months... <img src="/NG2013_WEB/ui/smiley/2.gif" align=absmiddle border=0 alt=":-(">

I've also heard that a beta WM 20 US is in the works to try and solve the problem, but when will it be available is less than sure

If you buy WM19 now I believe you are entitled for a free upgrade to V20.
You could ask pcsoft to be sure.

You can also simply buy the french v20 and use the us version 19 for now

Hi All,

If I bought the French WM20, do you think I'd be able to change over to the English WM20 when it's available?

Thanks

Yes you can

Hi Piotr

I am using iMac yosomite v10.10.1 (Build 14B25) and compiled wm19 apps for
ios8.1/1.7 iPhone6+ --> iphone 4 under apple enterprise license and it's running
good but I never know it's 32-bit in wm19 for IOS.

I recently find problem by using crypt/uncrypt functions with BCCapture in QR
under wm19 with blank output but it works in wd19. It is a bug.

And I also I found out that bcCapture(QR_..) went BLACK in iPad mini 2 but
they're all good for iPhone. I hope pcSoft should push a futher patch about this.

Not sure it's the 32-bit running on 64-bit issue.

Thanks for your info.

Cheers

Hi all,

Just to let you know, I've spoken to PCSoft and I'm going to buy the French WM20 and then change over to the English version when it's available. As Fabrice has mentioned, this will allow me to continue building the app in WM19 and just use French WM20 to compile with. It'll be a bit of a pain, as my knowledge of French is non-existent, but seeing as all I should have to do is open the solution and then compile it, it shouldn't be too difficult, I hope!
I've decided, (obviously), to stick with PCSoft, as to try and redesign my app for the client in another production environment would be practically impossible. However, I still feel that it is VERY poor of them not to be offering a patch for WM19. Basically the consumer is being held to ransom, buy WM20 else your IOS apps go no further, at least commercially. Practically every other programming environment for iOS have made patches available for free and although PCSoft cannot know in advance what decisions Apple will make, I do feel that there should be an element of goodwill demonstrated to their customers and make the effort to continue to support the product they have sold without reaching out and squeezing the customers wallet even more?

Thanks for all the help and advice, appreciate it <img src="/NG2013_WEB/ui/smiley/1.gif" align=absmiddle border=0 alt=":-)">
