I am trying to implement a way by which I can allow a user to select a file existing on the storage media of their device.
The file type that I would like to allow user to select is text files only.
I am not able to get fSelect to work as it is not supported on Android as well as iOS.
Any other way to achieve this please?

Hi
there is an example of a folder/file browser available for android. You can probably use that as a basis for your file picker

Here is the list of Folders of samples for Android:

There is no sample showing File or Folder browsing techniques.
Yes there is one for Windows Phone apps but not for Android!
