Hi Michael,
Over 10 year ago I made a small proof of concept in Excel using VBA to open an MS Project document and extract information out of it. (It was to show that is was possible to build a project dashboard in Excel based on MS Project data.)
If you have Excel and can make your way through VBA, I can send you the Excel file so you can see the initialization and calls that were made in this proof of concept. I can not help you further after because it makes over 10 year and I'm not into the Excel/MS Project stuff since then.
