In order to get bcCapture() to work in WM is it necessary to install zxing barcode scanner on the device first? (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details…)
Or, can the zxing jar files be added to the installation in some way that allows the camera to capture barcodes?
I tested without installing zxing and all I got when I tried to scan a barcode was a message to "complete action using" and nothing to choose. The help says zxing will be installed if it's not available - but it wasn't?
Once I also installed zxing barcode scanner I could scan barcodes with my WM18 app.
If zxing barcode scanner has to be installed for WM18 to scan barcodes (??) is there an easy way to install it, seamlessly?

Hi Geoff,
AFAIK, with version 18, you will need zxing and there is no seamless way to install it (you COULD included the apk in your app, extract it as a resource and run it to install it, but that would work ONLY if other source of install are authorized, and may make your app recognized as malware).
However, in current version, this install is not necessary anymore (the library is included)

Thanks Fabrice, have you tried it in WM21? Can you tell me if portrait orientation is supported? |
