Hi,
I am using the setup procedure to generate an install file and upload this to an FTP server using the normal install screen in WD.
Are patches usable with this method of updating the software?
I get the impression that they are not but this would save me a lot of time uploading and save a lot of client's time downloading so I would like to sure.
Thanks |

Hi. I can't answer your question, but, I can give an idea.
If you setup your app directory in the ftp server config, you can upload patches (only) directly there. The next time your client start the app, the patch will became operative.
Of course this is a very basic way to update your app and it requires manual upload. I never tried but I guess there's a better way for doing this directly with a Wx tool.

Hi Noel,
What Raul thinks in my opinion is that u create patch file trough Workshop->Library->Create a library patch. When u done creating patch u can find it under Patch folder inside you Project folder, and then u can upload it directly into directory of FTP server where your App, the next time your client starts app, he ll have all changes made by patch.
This is example of patch i use : KNJIGOVODSTVO.WDL.001
HINT: When generating EXE you need to choose option under Patch Library page "Yes: the executable will take these updates by patch into account." |
