1. No subscriptions - While the yearly upgrade cost is similar to a subscription, I prefer it. Subscriptions usually require the same fee year after year. The WinDev yearly subscription cost is much less than the initial purchase fee. In fact when I see that a product uses a subscription model, I immediately remove it from my list of possible tools.
2. A decent database is part of the package while retaining the option of accessing other databases.
3. Built in multimedia controls. I wish there was a VLC control so that multimedia was easily available on Linux, but for Windows, it works well.
4. Fast
5. Much lighter than Microsoft development products. Install Visual Studio express to see what I mean.
6. Software engineering components built in, no add-ons needed.
7. The W-Language - I prefer non-object oriented coding techniques. And with Internal Procedures, top-down structured code methodologies can be used.
8. Fast
9. A comprehensive IDE.
10. The ability to use the same language across desktop, web and mobile applications.
My biggest wish is that the full development environment was available on Linux and that the Linux capabilities of generated programs were equal to Windows programs. |
