Hi I need to do some translation in an app I am converting to WD but the information provided for WDMSG on the PCS web site is minimal and as the cost of 609 euros is approx 40% of the cost of WD (66% of competitive upgrade) I would appreciate some additional information from users of this product 1. If an application has 50 windows each containg a button with Update does the text file contain ALL controls (50 x Update) or only unique values (1 x Update)? 2. Is the translation file generic? - i.e. can I have a file with all the common button texts for example and import it into any WD application? 3. Is the translated file (viewed via WDTRAD) still a text file or is the result of translation stored in data files? 4. If I have a translated file containing 5 languages can it be imported correctly into an application containg oly 4 of the languages present? 5. Am I correct in thinking it is WD version specific? - The following is on the WD French site Mise à jour WDMSG 7.x vers 8* EWDMSG48 299 euro * WDMSG 8 n'est pas encore disponible Update WDMSG 7.x towards 8 * EWDMSG48 299 euro * WDMSG 8 is not yet available 6. 609 euros + WD8 upgrade would equal 908 euros - is it worth the money? Could someone email me a couple of pages of a typical text file produced so that I maybe can get an inpression of what the product is all about Regards DerekT |

Hello Derek, >1. If an application has 50 windows each containg a button with Update does the text file contain ALL controls (50 x Update) or only unique values (1 x Update)? Yes, you will have 50 times the text "Update" in the translation file. But there is a button "Copy trans." to allow you to copy a translated text to all references identical to the current one.
2. Is the translation file generic? - i.e. can I have a file with all the common button texts for example and import it into any WD application? ??? Sorry, I don't understand!
>3. Is the translated file (viewed via WDTRAD) still a text file or is the result of translation stored in data files? The translation file has entries like below: CLA:D:\WDPrj\Class\clMain.wdc MSG0:0=Unknown Language '%1'! Language will be English. MSG1:0=Texts for language '%1' aren't fully translated! Therefore, English will used! MSG2:0=Couldn't open Analyze '%1'!
4. If I have a translated file containing 5 languages can it be imported correctly into an application containg oly 4 of the languages present? Yes, during the translation you work always with two language pairs. You're also able to import en to en-us language, that means if you have two English translations you have to enter only one (say in en) and after finishing you export en and then import into en-us and modify then only the diffrence text. >6. 609 euros + WD8 upgrade would equal 908 euros - is it worth the money? For us, sure! Best regards Raimund
