Hi

When I try to install 64bit of windev19 during the installation windev says no dongle found.

With version 20 no probleem at all.

Any Sugestions ?

Hi Henri,

I would suggest to stick with 32 bits versions.

64 bits versions have a big number of limitations (see help for details) and will give you NO advantage except if you are working on a HUUUUUUUGE project (I'm talking 3000 files in the analysis, by example) and therefore are using more than 2 GB or ram when opening.

In any other case, the 64 bits version is a very bad idea.

Hi all,

For your information: V22 installs by default in 64 bit without the option to choose for the 32 bit installation. If you want the 32 bit version you need to run the installer with the /32 flag from the command line. So I guess all limitations Fabrice is talking about have been resolved as of V22 and 64 bit is the default installation...

I noticed this because my USB WD dongle is that old that it only supports 32 bit installations. The WB and WM dongles are newer and worked by default.

Exchanging the dongle for a newer version was an option but just another idiote process as you need to express send your 32 bit dongle to PCSoft (having no dongle at all anymore), pay 50€ or so and await the replacement 64bit dongle to be delivered back to you. The choice to give up on this process was easily made as the 22-versions will be my last WX updates most likely anyway and I'm doing less and less with WX.

How old school can your software protection scheme get? It's a real anachronism to me...

Hi Peter,

you can request a dongle replacement "in advance". Means you have to give PC Soft your credit card# together with your request. You can use the dongle until the new one is on your table. Then you should send the old/bad dongle to PC Soft. There not a single minute without your dongle! If you don't send in the bad dongle within two weeks then your credit card will be charged for a whole new Wx-product!
