Anyone have any ideas how to correct?

Hi Joe,

I have the same keyboard lagging problem since the FCU (Fall Creators Update - build 1709) and I have spent already many hours if not days to find the solution but it's still not resolved :-( When typing code, opening windows, moving controls,... the CPU jumps every time to 100%. In runtime when clicking a menu option, it takes even a couple of seconds to display the submenu...and I have this problem in WinDev 19, 22 and 23 and only in WinDev - WebDev or WinDev Mobile are not yet installed. During Chrismas I reinstalled Windows and the updates up to build 1703 and the problem was disappeared, now build 1709 is back and the problem is also back. It's very annoying and upproductive to work with it...

In order to have a better look at this problem can you let me know the following items:
- what is the cpu load when typing (task manager tab performance)
- windows version (build)?
- which graphical card? driver version?
- how many monitors? which resolution?
- which anti-virus installed? anti-malware?

kind regards,
Xavier

Hi guys,

are you sure that you excluded BOTH the directory of windev AND the directory of your projects from your anti-virus?

Because that's clearly something external interacting...

Also, I would advise to use w10privacy to remove all keylogging, cortana and other "intelligent" functions from your w10.

Best regards

Fabrice,
Thank you. Will keep you posted on results.

Hi Fabrice,

directory where all WinDev, WebDev software is installed and all the directories of the projects are excluded. I'm using Windows Defender and I've seen yesterday that the anti-malware from time to time is keeping the cpu busy (one core 100 %). I will have a look at w10privacy. Last year I have already written to PC SOFT but apparently I was the first to report this problem.

We have done tests on another PC, less performant than my system but same Windows version and build, same project, same WinDev version, system has also dual monitors, same network,... and that PC doesn't have that problem. Hardware configurations are quite different and the other PC is using Panda as anti-virus but so far no indication where to look.

@Joe: you have indeed the same Windows build and also a system with multiple monitors, but you're using different anti-virus and -malware. For the moment I haven't any clue how I can solve the problem. Btw, my system has a NVidia GeForce GTX 1080ti + 2 x 4k monitors connected with DP-cables. This weekend I will test another PC.

kind regards,
Xavier

Hi again

I've just found out that there is a known bug in windows 10 creator fall update that causes slowdown of many external application and -MAY- be the cause of your problem... it seems that it's coming from a combination of the Control Flow Guard being activated and a bug in the GDI DLL doing wrong allocations and begin blocked by the first one

It is supposed to be corrected soon by microsoft, so maybe your problem is going to disappear with a future windows update... I would still try w10privacy, though (first thing I do after EACH update on my pcs).

Best regards

Hi Fabrice,

thnx for the info. w10privacy has a lot of options, it will take some time to investigate every option.

I had already deactived The Control Flow Guard option and did some other optimizations but WinDev is still pushing the cpu to 100% when typing - even when typing comments, opening windows, selecting controls.... For example, when a window is zoomed to 200% it takes a couple of seconds when I see a control selected. This lagging is less when the window is displayed at 100%. I hope that Microsoft (or PC SOFT) comes with an update as soon as possible.

kind regards
Xavier

Possibly not quite the same issue but yesterday my screen input slowed dramatically.

If, on 2 occasions, I carried on I eventually got a blue screen, waited while Windows wrote to a log (that I cannot find) and then shut down.
Info on the screen indicated that this was a problem with nvlddmkm.dll

Google indicated that there were known issues with this and Win10.

Did all the necessary checks - no issues found with disk or memory and the NVidia driver I had was the current version.
Checked and updated the w10 Privacy options - tried again, same result.

Only change I could recall making recently - about 3 weeks ago - was installing the latest version of Malwarebytes.
Uninstalled it and the problem has gone.
