I'm currently looking at developing an inventory system for a local health food store. It seems like a very complicated business! They sell both wholesale and retail. So, for instance, they buy rice in a 50lb bag and sell it wholesale by the bag and retail by kg. I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who has developed such a system. Thanks, Garry |

Hello,
I used to have a facility to enter more UOM (Unit of Measurement) for that item(s). Say an Item will be created with 2 UOMs, Bags & KGs. Pricing will be maintained for each UOM.
While making a sale, they select UOM after an item is selected. And corresponding price will be retrieved from the Price Table.
A Item Conversion facility will be provided wherein an Item could be converted from one UOM to another UOM. This conversion ratio could be pre-defined in the master or could be entered while actual conversion takes place, deducting pilferage, if any. [ Could be handled the way the one wants ]
Hope this helps.

Yes, I already have 4 UoM: - PO UoM - Inventory UoM - Retail UoM - Wholesale UoM and associated conversion factors. And then there is the pricing! It can come from a Customer specific Price List, a generic wholesale price list based on qty, or a standard retail price list which can also be based on quantity. They currently do everything manually so there are many quirks that are kept in people's heads. At the moment I am working on mostly the wholesale side of things where an order is handwritten 3 or 4 times between the customer phone in and the final invoice. The total $$$ are recorded in QuickBooks and this is a 3-5MM dollar business. |

Kroger is the biggest grocery store in the USA; they conduct an online Kroger survey on https://krogercomfeedback.com/ to know customer opinions, I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who has developed such a system.
